Index coverage report is found in Google search console and helps you to find out the pages that have been indexed by Google successfully and also the pages that are not indexed yet because of some errors. For the pages that cannot be indexed, you can find out the details of the errors and then again request Google for re-indexing those web pages.

How to fix the error – ‘Submitted URL has crawl issue’?
- Just select the primary domain after logging into Google search console. You can find out the drop down for selecting the domain in the top left corner.
- Click ‘COVERAGE’ under the index for having a look at the Index coverage report.
- Now, you can see that the top portion of the report has four parts, error, valid with warnings, valid, and excluded. Since the main aim here is to find and fix the indexing errors, you will have to use the ‘ERROR’ tab. The process is divided into two parts, identifying the errors, and understanding the error types and fixing them.
This issue means that the page is having some problem which cannot be indexed by Google. In this case, you need to find out what is the actual error and then resubmit it to Google.
- First, click the ‘INSPECT URL’ button.
- Next, click ‘VIEW CRAWLED PAGE’ and then ‘MORE INFO’ buttons that are there in the right menu.
How can you Resolve ‘Submitted URL Not Found (404)’ Error?
In order to fix this error, click on that page first and then
- Click on the ‘INSPECT URL’ button.
- While waiting for getting the data from the Google index, type the URL in another browser window.
Most importantly, If you find the page on the website and you want
- Click the ‘TEST LIVE URL’ button
- Then click the ‘REQUEST INDEXING’ button.
- Then finally, click the ‘VALIDATE FIX’ button by going back to the report.
If the page returns the 404 error code and you don’t want to get it indexed by Google, you have 2 options as follows: –
- Leave it in the same condition. Google is going to automatically remove that page.
- Redirect that page using 301 redirection to any of the related pages of the website.
